Peanut Butter Cookies and Cream Salad
Peanut butter cookies and cream salad, but is it really a salad you might ask? Not in the traditional sense, but in the Midwest it definitely passes as a side salad. Cookie salad is a total Midwestern thing. It generally consists of pudding, whipped cream, some form of cookies, and sometimes fruit.
This recipe is sponsored by Old Home Foods but all opinions are 100% my own.
This version uses vanilla pudding, whipped cream, Old Home Foods Creamy Peanut Butter, and two kinds of cookies. It’s super easy to whip up, and makes a great dish to share for a gathering. It’s also best made ahead so it has time to chill for a few hours or overnight.
The addition of Old Home Foods Creamy Peanut Butter is perfect for a cookie salad. It adds just the right amount of peanut butter flavor without overpowering or making it too rich. And if you love peanut butter I’m guessing you also love the combo of peanut butter and chocolate!
I added two kinds of cookies, chocolate sandwich cookies and peanut butter sandwich cookies. Both perfect for this salad. Personally I enjoy this as a dessert treat, but if you’re attending a potluck meal this totally passes as a side dish. If you like banana pudding it’s a similarly textured treat. The cookies get a little soft, and to me, its just SO YUMMY!
I love this for a summer side or dessert since it’s served chilled. Perfect for a hot summer day! Old Home Foods Creamy Peanut Butter is my favorite natural peanut butter (and their one with honey). It doesn’t get that oily separation that some natural peanut butters get. Check out their site and see where you can find it near you!
Why I love this peanut butter:
I’ve tried a handful of natural peanut butters and after trying Old Home’s there’s just no turning back. It’s simply made in small batches with just a touch of sea salt added. It’s not oily, no separation, no stirring, no added sugar, they’re local to me, and it’s just plain AMAZING tasting. Those are just a few of the reasons why I love it!
Already brainstorming when I should make this again, yum! Hope you try this Peanut Butter Cookies and Cream Salad! If you love peanut butter, check out these Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins.

Peanut Butter Cookies and Cream Salad
A Midwest classic with a peanut butter twist. Such a tasty pot luck treat!
Ingredients
- 1 3.4 oz package instant vanilla pudding
- 2 cups cold milk (not dairy free) I used 1% milk
- 8 oz tub whipped topping thawed
- 1/3 cup Old Home Foods Creamy Peanut Butter
- 20 chocolate sandwich cookies crushed
- 10 peanut butter sandwich cookies crushed
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes. Chill in fridge for 5-10 minutes to set up.
-
Gently fold peanut butter and whipped topping into set pudding. If peanut butter is too thick, microwave for just a couple seconds to loosen up, but make sure it is not warm or hot when folding in.
-
Gently fold in both kinds of crushed cookies. Chill in refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set up and chill. Can be made a day ahead and chilled overnight. Store in air tight container. Will keep in fridge for 3-4 days.
Recipe Notes
If you let the peanut butter sit out at room temp for a bit, it will loosen up to make it easier to fold into the pudding.
Make sure you use cold dairy milk otherwise your pudding will never set up and be soupy. (I’ve tried with almond milk, does not work!)
