Green Chile Turkey Burgers

Turkey burgers don’t have to be dry, plain, or boring and these Green Chile Turkey Burgers are just the opposite. They’re juicy, bursting with flavor, and topped with all the good fixings!

This recipe was inspired by a trip to New Mexico last year. We stopped at a tiny burger dive that was recommended by a fellow foodie friend, and I had a fabulous green chile burger! Check out all my trip highlights in my Instagram saved story highlights, look for New Mexico!

Putting the burgers together

Typically, I use a 93/7 ground turkey so there is some fat in there that helps to keep them juicy. Mix in all the seasonings and green chiles, form into four equal patties, and cook on the stop top. I prefer to make turkey burgers in a skillet or on a flat cook-top to avoid sticking on a grill. You could certainly grill these and would give them a nice char grilled flavor.

Brioche buns are always the way to go when making burgers at home. It gives the burgers that restaurant quality feel, and they toast up beautifully. I just lightly butter the buns, and throw them under the broiler for a couple minutes. Or, if you’re grilling of course, just throw them on the grill to toast up!

I top these Green Chile Turkey Burgers with a slice of pepper jack cheese, and classic toppings like lettuce and tomato. I’ve eaten these with fresh avocado OR some guacamole for an added level of flavor. The sauce for these incorporates the same flavors that are in the turkey. I use Greek yogurt for a cool and creamy sauce, but you could use mayo, or even cream cheese would be really tasty. I throw in some spices and the rest of the green chiles, it makes the perfect condiment!
