Banana Split Smoothies

These banana split smoothies are taking me back to my college days! I used to work at a café that served real tasty smoothies…except they used not so great ingredients so I swapped those out for things like Old Home Foods Strawberry Yogurt and frozen strawberries.

This post is sponsored by Old Home Foods but all opinions are 100% my own.

Here’s what you need:

  • Old Home Foods Strawberry Yogurt
  • Frozen strawberries
  • Banana
  • Cocoa Powder and/or Chocolate Sauce
  • Ice
  • Whipped Cream
  • Cherries

When I tested this recipe I used only cocoa powder which didn’t quite give it enough chocolate punch. I then added a squeeze of chocolate sauce and that did it. I highly recommend that route, but if you want just a subtle chocolate flavor the cocoa powder works great.

I used a high powered blender that’s perfect for smoothies, but I think this recipe would work fine in any blender.

These were so fun to make. To serve I drizzled some chocolate sauce into some malt style glasses, and topped the smoothies with whipped cream and cherries.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Old Home Foods Strawberry Yogurt
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1+ tbsp chocolate syrup
  • Whipped cream for garnish
  • Cherries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients (except whipped cream and cherries) into a blender. Blend on high for about 1 minute or until smooth. Add a splash of milk if needed for consistency. Taste, and if you want it more chocolate forward, add more chocolate syrup.

  2. Pour into serving glasses and top with whipped cream and cherries. I used chilled malt glasses, and drizzled with chocolate sauce before pouring smoothie into glasses. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

You could use fresh strawberries, but the frozen helps with the icy consistency of the smoothie.

Adjust chocolate sauce amount for your taste preference.
