Mediterranean Layer Dip
I’ve been making this Mediterranean Layer Dip all summer…and I have no plans to stop! I absolutely LOVE the tzatziki sauce recipe that is originally in my Meatball Gyro recipe, so I’ve used it again here.
I made this as an appetizer for a little impromptu get-together and it was a HUGE hit, so I’ve made it for a handful of other small gatherings this summer. It’s full of fresh bold flavors, and so tasty scooped up with some pita chips.
What’s in it?
The bottom layer is just store bought classic hummus. If you have a favorite flavored hummus you could certainly try that. If you love to make fresh hummus, that’s great too! On top of that is the cool and creamy tzatziki (make sure you make that ahead of time) with fresh flavors of cucumber, dill, and lemon. Then the tasty toppings: tangy feta cheese, fresh tomatoes, roasted red bell peppers, and scallions.
I like to drizzle with some good olive oil, a squeeze of fresh grilled lemon, and some hot sauce! A little tip if you want spicy feta: stir in a drizzle of sriracha or hot sauce with your feta cheese to give it a little kick!
Serve this Mediterranean Layer Dip up with crispy pita chips, warm naan bread, and your favorite dip-able veggies, so easy! Enjoy!
Mediterranean Layer Dip
Ingredients
For the Tzatziki
- 1 heaping cup Greek yogurt
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 tbsp fresh dill or 1 tsp dried
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 1/2 small cucumber, seeded, grated, drained
- 1/4 tsp salt
- black pepper
Remaining Dip Ingredients
- 10 oz prepared classic hummus
- 1/3 cup fresh tomatoes diced
- 1/3 cup roasted red bell peppers diced
- 1/3 cup feta cheese crumbles
- 2 scallions chopped
- shredded lettuce optional
- olive oil drizzle
- sriracha or hot sauce optional
- grilled lemon optional garnish

In a small bowl, mix all of the tzatziki ingredients together. Chill in the fridge for at least an hour for the flavors to come together before assembling the layers. Make sure the grated cucumber is drained. Add grated cucumber into a paper towel, and squeeze excess liquid out.

Once tzatziki has chilled, you can layer the dip onto a large shallow platter. Spread the hummus evenly on the bottom, followed by the tzatziki, leaving a border of hummus showing. Sprinkle with tomatoes, roasted red peppers, scallions, and feta. Drizzle lightly with good olive oil and hot sauce if desired. Serve with crispy pita chips, warm naan bread, and fresh veggies for dipping!

Let me start by saying, I don’t make stuff, generally I just eat stuff. And I judge a recipes based on how much of it is left at the end of the event. So far, this one has left pretty much just the crumbs for the pita-chips and a handful of the cucumbers. A+ rating, 5 stars, definitely recommend.
