Almost a Candy Bar
These bars truly have something in them for everyone, and can be adapted for taste or nut allergies. This recipe was forwarded to me from my sister about 5 years ago so that I could make them for her baby shower, twins!
Every chew you get a different layer of sweet goodness.
Soft chewy cookie dough and granola bars:
Gooey marshmallows and butterscotch:
Crunchy walnuts:
Salty pretzels:
Peanut butter sauce:
Topped with a chocolate finish!
YUM! They are perfect for potlucks and will quickly become your go-to dessert to bring to any party! Next time I am going to try a little sea salt sprinkled on top to enhance the salty pretzels to really give it that sweet and salty vibe!
Almost a Candy Bar
Ingredients
- 1 tube, 16.5 oz refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough
- 4 nutty s'more trail mix bars chopped
- 1 package butterscotch chips
- 2 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
- 1 cup walnuts chopped
- 1 1/2 cups pretzels
- 1 package peanut butter chips
- 3/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup butter cubed
- 1 package chocolate chips
Instructions
-
Let cookie dough hang out at room temp for about 10 minutes to soften. In a large bowl, combine dough and chopped trail mix bars. Press into an ungreased 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake uncovered at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
-
Sprinkle with butterscotch chips and marshmallows. Bake 3-4 minutes longer until marshmallows begin to brown. Sprinkle with walnuts; arrange pretzels over the top.
-
In a small sauce pan melt the peanut butter chips, corn syrup, and butter; spoon over bars evenly.
-
In a microwave, melt chocolate chips, stirring every few seconds to avoid burning! Stir until smooth. Spread over bars, and refrigerate for 1 hour or until chocolate is set. Cut and serve!
Recipe Notes
You could really customize these to your liking. Swap walnuts for peanuts, or omit nuts. Throw in mini M&Ms if you're not into butterscotch. I love to use dark chocolate chips for the top because it is my favorite!
