Peanut Butter Cereal Treats
Probably the easiest and quickest treats you can whip up are these peanut butter cereal treats. Think the classic rice krispie treats with a twist. I’m officially obsessed with the peanut butter Chex cereal that recently came out. (#notsponsored) I’m not sure if any other brands or generic brands make it, but I know there are other types of peanut butter cereals that would also work great in this recipe.
They take less than 10 minutes to put together, and no oven required. Simply melt butter and marshmallows, stir in cereal, press into a pan, and top with mini chocolate chips. I throw them in the fridge to quicken the cooling process, because the faster you can cut into them the better! If you are looking for a thicker bar, you could make these in a square 9×9 pan that would basically double the thickness. If you are making them for kids, the 9×13 is probably the way to go since they will be easier to bite that way.
These are great for a potluck or if you need to make a treat super quick! They travel well and everyone will love them…you’ll definitely bring home an empty pan! I like these Peanut Butter Cereal Treats served cold so keep them in the fridge! Enjoy!
Here are some of my other favorite treats to make!
Almond Butter Oatmeal Scotcheroos
Peanut Butter Cereal Treats
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp butter
- 10 oz mini marshmallows
- 6 cups peanut butter corn cereal
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- non-stick baking spray
Instructions
-
Spray a 9×13 baking pan with non-stick baking spray and set aside.
-
In a large microwave safe bowl, melt the butter in the microwave for about 1 minute, or until melted. Stir in the marshmallows, microwave for another 1-2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until marshmallows are melted.
-
Stir in peanut butter cereal until all is coated in the marshmallow butter mixture. Pour into the prepared pan, and press down with a spatula until evenly spread. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips, press gently so they stick. Cool and chill completely before cutting and serving. I like them served cold from the fridge!
Recipe Notes
A square 9×9 baking pan can also be used for a thicker bar.
The butter and marshmallows can be melted over low heat on the stove top if you do not have a microwave.

I live in London Ontario Canada and I was wondering what is the peanut butter flavoured cereal your suggesting for this recipe please???
I cannot find any chex cereal peanut butter flavour anywhere here in Ontario Canada.
Is there another cereal that I could use??

Oh bummer! I know other brands make peanut butter cereal, any peanut butter cereal would work. Cheerios makes some, Kix, Reeses Puffs, really any would work that have the peanut butter flavor. Good Luck, thanks for making!
