Carolina Gold BBQ Pork Sandwiches

A tangy and delicious sauce to top your favorite pork sandwiches!

Ingredients

For the BBQ sauce

  • 1 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

For the sandwiches

  • Pulled pork
  • Brioche buns toasted
  • Prepared coleslaw
  • Sliced pickles
  • Crispy onion strings

Instructions

  1. In a small sauce pan over low heat, whisk together yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar, honey, and brown sugar. Combine and warm through until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat.

  2. Whisk in ketchup, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and all spices. Once well combined, toss desired amount with warm pulled pork. Sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for about a week. Also freezable!

  3. Assemble sandwiches by placing pulled pork on toasted brioche, top with a drizzle of additional gold sauce, topped with slaw, onion strings, and pickles, yum!

Hot tip for the slaw piece, buy a dill pickle salad kit and use as your slaw, delicious!
